YouTube was founded in 2005 by three former PayPal employees. It was purchased by Google in 2006 for $1.65 billion. By 2010, YouTube was showing more than 2 billion videos per day and its annual revenue was estimated between $450 million and $945 million, having more than doubled from the previous year. While some lawsuits have been filed against YouTube for copyright violations, it has become profitable. Individual YouTube users can also profit through YouTube's partner program, with some making over $10,000 per month.
